I travel a lot as I have the good fortune to be in a profession with opportunities to visit far away places. Summary on the Tokina 16.5-135 Lens
I rented this Tokina 16.5-135 lens and sadly, I will not be buying it. The optical test was not impressive enough to make me want to buy this lens. I will go through in greater depth here on what happened during the test and you can make your own judgment call. The first thing that you would notice is that this lens has a bad price over value ratio.
For the price that Tokina is offering, the lens seriously underperforms. There are serious optical issues on this lens that are simply disappointing to see considering Tokina’s past performance. They are simply unable to replicate their past successes on this lens. My hope is that they will do better in the future.
With that being said, let me be more specific here. The Tokina 16.5-135mm lens has such a weak performance at the maximum aperture. There is a very visible chromatic aberration results at the wide angle as well.
