Apple Crisp, the Irresistible Dessert

09 Jul

Apple crisp or Apple crumb is a popular dessert in UK and in the West. It consists of baked apples and crusty toppings. I guess the description itself makes everyone’s mouth water. Apple crisp is usually served with ice cream or heavy cream on top. Serving apple crisp this way makes it everyone’s favorite dessert. An apple crisp recipe usually have lemon juice, ground cinnamon, ground nutmeg, flour, granulated sugar, brown sugar, oats and cold butter in the list of ingredients. Pecans or walnuts are sometimes added to enhance the good flavor.

On the other hand, the preparation is so simple. You don’t need to have special baking or cooking skills to create this irresistible dessert. Start making apple crisp by peeling the apples and slicing them thinly. Combine apples with lemon juice in a separate bowl. In another bowl, mix together cinnamon, nutmeg and brown sugar. Combine the two mixtures, the apple mixture and the cinnamon mixture.

Now, make the crusty topping. Grab another bowl and combine flour, granulated sugar and oats. Slice the cold butter into small pieces and mix into the bowl of flour until the mixture becomes crumbly. Grease a 9-inch baking dish and pour apple mixture into the bottom of the dish. Top it off with the flour/topping mixture. Bake in the oven for 30-45 minutes at 375° F, or until apples are soft and toppings are nicely browned.

You can serve this apple crisp either warm or cold. Either way tastes great. Don’t forget to serve it with a scoop of heavy cream or vanilla ice cream.

Cows Milk is Not Best for Babies: Why You Shouldnt Feed Your Babies with Formula Milk Derived from Cows Milk

18 Apr

In the past years, it would seem that the development of these formula milks derived from cow milk is revolutionary. Lots of milk producing companies sensationalize the fact that these formula milks are much healthier, and are the best substitute for a mother’s milk. However, these lines are just products of advertising and for profit. You should understand that allowing your baby to drink cow milk could pose long term and adverse effects to your precious ones’ health.

As you may know, cow milk is designed to contain the exact amount of calcium and protein necessary to feed a calf that will eventually be 4 times larger that that of a human. Human babies require more carbohydrates in the beginning stages of their lives compared to calves.

Babies who are fed with cows milk tend to look puffy, bloated and fat. It is a common case for one year olds to have gallstones in the liver as a result of drinking and not digesting the cow’s milk. Many of these babies suffer from colic, gas and bloating, which makes them cry and develop sleeping disorders.
